Grade 9 EQAO Testing Score

St.Edmund Campion Secondary School in Brampton

Every year grade 9 students participate in provincial wide EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office) testing. In this grade the only subject that is tested is Math, this is to ensure each student is up to par with the provincial standard. It allows the school to see where their students are aligned in comparison to their peers. This is independent to Ontario schools only.  These tests are designed to be administered during key periods of the students learning (grade 3, grade 6, grade 9 and grade 10). There are two tests administered depending on the student’s math level, one at academic level and another at applied, both having the same goal. The goal of standardized EQAO testing is to assess the quality of education the students are receiving in that particular school. Since all students are given the same tests across the province it creates a valid comparison amongst each other.

The testing scores reported on the EQAO website shows the percentage of students who have performed above provincial average. For example, if the school has a math score of 75%, this means from the number students who participated in the EQAO test, 75% of those students scored above the provincial EQAO math average.

Looking at the EQAO math score for St. Edmund Campion Secondary School, doing a year to year comparison, you can see that throughout the years both the Academic and Applied scores have decreased, applied by 9% and academic by 1%.
